thanks for offering this commentary--I'm very interested in France, and appreciate the perspectives here, and feel the pain around so much racism in this country and in the world.
It’s just a dream that police and everyone else could love first, and ask questions later. But we are all armed with suspicion, backed into our own corner, blind to one another, blind to our own sightless moves.
Maybe it’s always been scary but there was this window through which it was less terrifying, a window as big as the sky that seems to be shrinking by the day.

Unfortunately that is so true! The world is a very scary place right now which makes me all the more grateful for these Substack rooms and Story Club.
