I am so angry. Successive French governments (mainly right wing) have done near to nothing for thirty years to prepare for the catastrophy that climate change brings. None of this is a surprise ! I will definately be voting green next year and even far left, if I have to.
I agree. They recently built a new hospital complex without A/C north of Paris. The successive governments do not seem willing to address the problem and its We the People who are responsible as we do not vote them out or insist on better saner policies.

Travel is getting more and more stressful. Train travel is my preferred mode as well, but tries the patience (in the US) as much as air travel. One has to ask-is it still worth it? I'm glad you are home safely with your sweet Bijou.
Glad you made it home safely! The western US is suffering from a multitude of fires right now. Spokane, WA got hit really hard and that was arson. It's very hard to see the destruction here and where you are.
I think the last time I read one of your diatribes you were complaining again about something that really doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter just how much you were inconvenienced. To my mind what matters is how devastating the fires have been to French Lives. Over 100,000 acres have burned in wine country, which is 404 sq kilometers, or four times the size of Paris. Probably tens of thousands of families have been devastated. I pray for those families. You might want to reach out to someone that can help you with your feeling of self importance. I believe the DSM describes the condition as narcissistic. If you were 16 years old I would say get over it, it’s not all about you.

She doesn’t write “diatribes”; she writes clearly and effectively about her experiences as she looks out her window and calls it as she sees it. She herself has survived two fires and has suffered losses many could not comprehend, nor accept without some serious self-pity. She did not describe inconvenience. She described what happened to her and what she saw at her level in the broader scheme because of the fires affecting us all. And the relief she felt once she was home and safe.
